There are three basic choices:

  • sign up for a hosted LID URL at mylid.net.
  • download NetMesh InfoGrid LID from netmesh.org/downloads and run it on your own web server. There are also a number of related software packages that implement a LID subset, such as the OpenID Servers listed here.
  • implement LID yourself and run it on your own web server.

Of course, the first alternative is much simpler than the others.
